Boise State is packing its bags and heading south to Vegas next weekend to play Washington in the 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl. Boasting another 12-win regular season, undefeated in conference play, the coach behind the scenes is Offensive Coordinator, Zak Hill is also heading south, but to Arizona State where he will hope to turn around the Sun Devil’s offense as the new offensive coordinator. Under his tenure since 2016, the Broncos went 43-10. In that same span, Arizona State went 26-24. Since 2016, Arizona State barely qualified for its annual bowl game. Hill will come into Tempe, Arizona having a boasted a 10-win season every year since coming to Boise. In response to Hill’s departure, Boise State head coach, Bryan Harsin, commented, ” I would like to thank Zak for his time here at Boise State. We’ve learned over the last several years that when you’ve had the kind of success that we’ve had, our assistants are going to generate a lot of interest throughout the country.”

In preparation for the bowl game against the 7-5 Huskies , Boise State will continue searching for a play caller. The most likely candidate is Boise’s co-offensive coordinator, Eric Kiesau. Kiesau brings an impressive resume to the table, having coached at Washington, Colorado, and Kansas. Even with the departure of Hill, Bronco fans can expect to see a lot of fireworks in Vegas, as BSU will be squaring off against the coach who put them on the map leading them where they are today,
