Pick 1 Arizona Cardinals : Nick Bosa DE Ohio State
I have the Cardinals selecting Nick Bosa with the first overall pick. Which is a no brainier unless the get an offer they cant refuse from another team looking to select Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins number one. Nick Bosa will add to an already solid Arizona pass rush with chandler Jones who had 13 sacks this past season. If they want to compete in a division with Russel Wilson, Jared Goff and a soon to be healthy Jimmy Grappolo they will need to add to what is an already solid pass rush. Bosa can go in and play at an elite level right away for whoever drafts him and offers a tremendous and balanced skill set. The only concern the revolves around him is his heath he suffered a knee injury this pat season in the game against TCU and deiced he wouldn’t play for the rest of the year. Nick’s father also has a history of protecting his sons talent so seeing them on the field every week may be a problem come contract time.
Player comparison: Joey Bosa
Pick 2 San Francisco 49ers : Josh Allen LB Kentucky
Many 49er fans will be very happy with this pick especially after their once promising linebacker Reuben Foster is no longer on the team due to trouble with the law. Allen is a pro ready edge rusher and would fit best in a 3-4 defense. Allen is one of the key reasons Kentucky was in contention for their first SEC East title this past year and led them to their first 10 win season. Allen offers a dominant pass rush trait showing that then he broke the school career record with 26 sacks. Allen is a no brainier top 3 pick he can do it all you can move him all over the front seven and he will thrive.
Player Comparison: Lenord Floyd
Pick 3 New York Giants: Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio State (Trade With NY Jets)
I have the Giants trading up to get their new franchise quarterback showing the official end of the Eli Manning era in New York. With the drat growing closer the number one rated QB is getting more and more hype and I believe he will not be available at six because of his fast rising draft stock. Teams like the Jaguars and Redskins are most likely looking to fill the QB slot this draft. So if Haskins is their guy they will have to trade up to get him.Haskins is a really good fit for the Giants. He grew up in Brooklyn dreaming that one day he would play for his hometown team which is has already outspokenly said he would love to be drafted to. Haskins is probably the most accurate passer to come out of college in the past 10 years he offers a great pocket presence and outstanding football IQ. In his worst game of his career he was able to show heart and resilience by coming back and winning late in the fourth quarter because of his ability to shake off bad passes. If the Giants do draft Haskins he would take the talent they have on offense to a level they have never been because of his talent and accuracy.
Pro comparison: Teddy Bridgewater
Pick 4 Oakland Raiders: Quinnen Williams DE Alabama
The Raiders will finally get their next Khali Mack after trading him away this past august. Williams had a breakout season this past fall. Showing his impact in pass rush and can stop the run as well. He had 8 sacks this season but, teams are not drafting him just for that, they are drafting him with the thought that he will acquire two blockers and the pressure he gets off the snap.
Pro Comparison: Gerald McCoy
Pick 5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Greedy Williams CB LSU
When Williams falls to the buccaneers they will have no choice other than to fill there biggest hole. Williams did not play in the peach bowl against UCF as he prepared for the draft. Williams is a really good cover corner by far the best in the draft and has very long arms for his size. The only concern surrounding Williams is his effort.
Pro Comparison: Dre Kirkpatrick
Pick 6 New York Jets: Jonah Williams OT Alabama (Trade With NY Giants)
Jonah Williams is a top talent but, I have him at six only because the Giants got there QB and everyone else is going defense. He may be the top tackle in my mock draft but don’t be surprised if you see Jawan Taylor or Greg little go before Williams because of his small arms. It’s is all going to come down to preference. The Jets main goal now that they have Sam Darnold is protecting him and giving him a team to work with. Williams is a solid tackle and has great pass blocking ability.
Pick 7 Jacksonville Jaguars: N’Keal Harry WR Arizona State
Lets get this out of the way the Jaguars offense is a mess no true number one receiver and with Dwayne Haskins off the board they now do not have the number one QB to choose from. They could go Lock or Greir, but by now I believe they would have signed a veteran QB like Foles or Bridgewater to take over the starting job with the expectation of the Giants taking Haskins. N’keal will give them the spark they need on offense standing at 6’4 and they will have their first true number one receiver since Allen Robinson. N’keal is great in contested passes and jump balls given his height and also can play good special teams. His main weakness is speed he has trouble against the faster CB trying to get separation downfield.
Pro Comparison: Brandon Marshall
Pick 8 Detroit Lions: Rashan Gary DL Michigan
When the Lions are on the clock they will be in a interesting position. I could see them trading out but there is just to much defensive talent on the board to pass up. I think they will go with the hometown guy Rashan Gary. Gary can be moved all over the line, he is a decent pass rusher and can be a great run stopper at times. The only problem is in his biggest game he under preformed against a NFL offensive linemen Tommy Creamer out of Notre Dame racking up no sacks with only one highlight being an assisted tackle for loss. His biggest selling point is he is a freak athlete standing at 6’5 and weighing 282 he can run like a linebacker and push the line like a nose tackle. Overall I don’t think its the best player available but the right pick for the lions.
Pro Comparison: Cam Jordan
Pick 9 Buffalo Bills: ED Oliver DT
ED Oliver was once the garunteed number one pick until a knee injury cut his season short missing four games. He is a good run stoper and can be put anywhere on the line. He dose a great job at developing pressure and shows great effort off the snap. Only concerns are injury and his size being 6’2 he is small for his position and that is why he will be the fourth defensive linemen taken off the board. He is a perfect fit for buffalo with the recent loss ok Kyle Williams they can fill that void with another 10 year staple on D line.
Pro Comparison: Aaron Donald
Pick 10 Denver Broncos : Drew Lock QB Missouri
Lock by no means is a year one starter he is a sit and learn guy that could learn off of Case Kenneum who is entering the final year of his 2 year deal and John Elway can no longer deny the fact that he needs a franchise QB in the building. They bombed on Paxton Lynch and Tim Tebow they need a guy to develop in the building. Drew Lock is easy to fall in love with because of arm strength but his accuracy is lacking he could really benefit from sitting a year.
Pro Comparison: Jay Cutler
Pick 11 Cincinnati Bengals : Devin White LB LSU
With the Marvin Lewis era over in Cincinnati after 16 years whoever they hire to replace him will probably want to get the biggest distraction out of the locker room Vonteze Burfict. It is absurd he is still in the building and a great replacement would be arguably the best inside linebacker in the country Devin White he can cover well and get after the quarterback with the blitz, but mainly stands out as a fantastic tackler.
Pick 12 Green Bay Packers: Clelin Ferrell DE Clemson
As many fans know Aaron Rodgers is never happy with his team, mainly because they simpily do not have talent. Well this would boost it big time after passing on Marcus Davenport this year they must address the defensive line. There would be no better addition to the Green Bay defense than Ferrell at this point in the draft. He would fit perfectly in the packer 4-3 defense which he plays in now at Clemson. He plays great on the edge and is a great pass rusher with quickness off the edge and a great pick for the Green Bay defense.
Pro Comparison: Bradley Chubb
Pick 13 Miami Dolphins: Derrick Brown DL Auburn
The Miami Dolphins have let two defensive stars off there team in the past 3 years. They let Olivier Vernon walk to New York and Nadamukong Suh walk to the Rams who both thrive on those teams. So needless to say the Dolphins need to reboot with defensive talent even though there are reports they are over Ryan Thanaheil, but I don’t believe it till I see it because no one will be willing to take on that contract. So I have them going with the best interior defensive linemen in this draft Derrick Brown. He would fit best in a 4-3 but can also play in a 3-4 as a NT he has great strength and his run stop ability. He proved himself the past 2 years going up against NFL O linemen and getting pressure and penetration in the run.
Pro Comparison: Malik Jackson
Pick 14 Atlanta Falcons: Dexter Lawrence DL Clemson
The Falcons had some problems on both sides of the ball this past season from their coaching changes this off season it looks like they believe their problems on offense was a coaching problem so that leads me to believe they are going defense. The best D linemen available at this point is Dexter Lawrence who would be a top 10 pick but tested positive of performance enhancement drugs this past bowl season. He is a plug and play guy and is often compared to a brick wall mainly known for his run stop but can get after the QB every once and a while. The only downside to him is how much did the PED effect is play and will he do them again.
Pro Comparison: Damon Harrison
Pick 15 Washington Redskins: Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma
I have the Redskins selectin Kyler Murray for one reason, the Alex Smith injury. The Redskins could go anywhere with this pick my best guess is they try go get a replacement for Alex Smith. Murray is a 5’9 Heisman winner only weighing 185 pounds personally I would not take him in the top 20 mainly because of his size and non commitment to football or baseball.
Pro Comparison: NO ONE! best guess Lamar Jackson
Pick 16 Carolina Panthers: Deandre Baker CB Georgia
Panthers are in need of D line and CB, but with the best D linemen off the board I think they will go CB. Baker isn’t the athletic corner like most are now he is a corner that puts up great numbers and is physical he can match up against anyone and would be a great addition to the Carolina DB unit.
Pro Comparison: Tredeavious White
Pick 17 Cleveland Browns: DK Metcalf WR Ole Miss
Browns can go anywhere here, but I have them getting Baker Mayfield one more weapon to surround him with. He would be a lethal down field threat for Cleveland something they have been missing since Josh Gordon. Standing at 6’4 this guy is ready to explode, but his route running is not good and cant sell fakes it should be interesting to see where he falls.
Pro Comparison: Josh Gordon
Pick 18 Minnesota Vikings : Jawan Taylor OT Florida
Vikings need to take advantage of what they have and loading up on O line would most certainly help because they wont be able to find any in free agency. After Kirk cousins held them hostage for a fully guaranteed contract. Taylor will offer solid pass and run protection and should help them get where they want to after failing to make the playoffs last year.
Pro Comparison: Jason Peters
Pick 19 Tennessee Titans: Deontie Thompson S Alabama
The Titans are another team that was on the verge of making it to the postseason. They could go anywhere, but I have them taking who is in my opinion the best player available. Thompson has good size standing at 6’2 and is hard to find a comparison for his height and play style
Pick 20 Pittsburgh Steelers: Byron Murphy CB Washington
The Steelers will go with a guy they are ecstatic fell to them he is Byron Murphy. Murphy is a very athletic corner with good cover skills and elite speed. Anyone who see’s him fall past the panthers may trade up to get him, but we will have to wait and see.
Pro Comparison: Kyle Fuller Pick 21 Philadelphia
Pick 21 Seahawks : Andre Dillard OT Washington State
Dillard had and outstanding senior bowl and that helped him move up into the first round. It’s no secret the Seahawks have one of the worst offensive line in the NFL. If they want Russell Wilson to have time in the pocket and get back to another super bowl they need to go O line heavy.
Pro Comparison: Mike McGlinchey
Pick 22 Baltimore Ravens : Montez Sweat DE Mississippi State
Sweat is an outstanding D linemen and it only makes sense for Baltimore to load up on more now that the best WR are off the board.
Pro Comparison :Myles Garret
Pick 23 Houston Texans : Greg Little OL Ole Miss
Greg Little is an outstanding O linemen and would be perfect for the Texans terrible O line. One thing is for sure Watson took way to many hits last year and didn’t have anytime to throw. Texans can no longer ignore this hole if they want to be taken seriously.
Pro Comparison: Andy Levitrie
Pick 24 Raiders : Jerry Tillery DT Notre Dame
Sounds about right John Gruden Loading up on D line. Tillery was great at Notre Dame he was a great run stopper and showed he could rush the passer against Stanford when he broke out for 4 sacks .
Pick 25 Philadelphia Eagles : Jeffery Simmons DT Mississippi State
The eagles need a little more pop on their D line and Simmons will give them just tat . His strongest asset is his explosiveness to stop up the middle
Pick 26 Indianapolis Colts : Kelvin Harmon WR N.C. State
Harmon will be a great compliment to Ty Hilton being a big body receiver and finally the Colts will have a big red zone target for Andrew Luck.
Pro Comparison: Mike Williams
Pick 27 Raiders : Josh Jacobs RB Alabama
A great strong powerful RB at Alabama and will be a great fit in Oakland or wherever they will play next year. With no commitment from Marshawn Lynch on how long he will play I expect the Raiders to address that position.
Pro Comparison: Lesean McCoy
Pick 28 LA Chargers Cody Ford OT Oklahoma
Looks like Phillip Rivers needs some better O line after their pathetic performance against New England so why not take the best O linemen available. Ford is a great protector on pass and run, but I like his potential in the pass game.
Pro Comparison : Cordy Glen
Pick 29 Kansas City Chiefs : Jachai Polite DE Florida
If Dee Ford dose in fact leave for a big contract Jachai Polite would be a great replacement for Ford. A great pass rusher the Chiefs could use if Ford decides to leave.
Pro Comparison : Dee Ford
Pick 30 Green Bay Packers : Johnathan Abram S Mississippi State
It is quite obvious the Packers need help on defense and if they can land Johnathan Abram after losing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix they can replace him quickly and add youth that can be quite helpful in protection.
Pick 31 LA Rams : Christan Wilikins DT Clemson
The Rams are going to lose a lot of defensive power this year to free agency and no better way way to replace it with then the 4 year senior Wilkins who is the master in disruption up front .
Pro Comparison: Grady Garret
Pick 32 New England Patriots : Will Grier QB West Virginia
It’s time the patriots get a successor in place for Tom Will Greir would be a perfect option because of his gunslinger mentality . He would sit and learn behind Tom for at least a full year and be ready to take the position when Brady hangs it up.
Pro Comparison: Matthew Stafford
