The New England Patriots have won their 6th Super Bowl. Their second in the last three years.
In what was a 3-3 game going into the third quarter, the Patriots had one drive that got them into the end zone. In the middle of the fourth, Brady launched a deep ball for tight end, Rob Gronkowski, who hauled it in down at the one. Then, rookie running back, Sony Michel, took it in from a yard out.
The Rams struggled to move the ball, but were driving until Jared Goff was intercepted by corner, Stephon Gilmore in the red zone. The Patriots would then drive down the field, a tack on a field goal, and effectively end this game.
Wide receiver Julian Edelman, had 10 catches for 141 yards, and ate up the Rams’ secondary all game long. The Rams didn’t have any answers until it was too late.
As for the Rams, the young team showed up as Jared Goff looked like a deer in headlights. Goff struggled to move the ball and was under constant pressure. Once again, Todd Gurley did not get the workload that was expected with only 10 carries for 35 yards. There are questions that need answers. It’s possible he running back was gassed from the regular season and simply had nothing left to give. Either way, there were just too many mistakes to make up for in this game.
As for Tom Brady, he’s now won his sixth Super Bowl. He’s solidified his G.O.A.T. status.
The Patriots have once again claimed the throne of the football world. They will now relish a season that had many doubters.
