The Atlanta Braves have resigned all star outfielder Nick Markakis to a 1 year $6 million deal. After Markakis’ career year in Atlanta last year helped lead them to the top of the NL East, it was unclear whether or not the Braves would resign him. Markakis played his first 8 seasons with Baltimore and the last 3 with Atlanta, and was great on both sides on the field last year. He batted a .297 which was the 9th highest in the NL last year, and paired well with 1B Freddie Freeman who hit a .309 in the 2018 season. The future is uncertain for Markakis at the age of 35, and he may be platooned with someone else who may not even be in Atlanta yet. One thing is for sure, he will remain in Atlanta for one more year.
