Yesterday was a wild day in the Conference USA in Mens basketball. With the top team going down at the buzzer, Western blowing another big lead, and UTEP shocking the Rice Owls at the buzzer.

Final scores:

UNT 74 UTSA 76 That is UNT’s first conference loss and second overall loss. UTSA sits atop of the conference at 10-7 4-0. Some interesting calls but in the end Jhivvan Jackson comes up as the hero at the horn.

Charlotte 65 FAU 60 Charlotte gets their first conference win, as Jon Davis drops 24. FAU drops to 11-6 and 2-2 in conference.

MTSU 56 LT 73 Middle continues to struggle as they drop to 3-14 and 0-4 in conference. The post Kermit Davis era is hitting hard for the Blue Raiders. LT gets their 2nd win in a row to move to 13-5 and 3-2 in conference.

UAB 68 USM 73 Another rough loss on the road for the Blazers when USM was hitting a majority of their 3s. They fall to 10-7 and 2-2 in conference. USM gets their second win in a row after a heartbreaking loss at North Texas. Cortez Edwards and Leonard Harper Baker combined for 35 points and 9/18 shooting. USM is now 10-7 and 2-3 in conference.

ODU 75 FIU 74 A nail biter as ODU scores the final bucket with 1.1 seconds left. Ahmad Carver scored 22, as the Monarchs move to 12-5 and 2-2 in conference after a heartbreaking loss to FAU. With the loss FIU moves to 11-6 and 2-2 in conference.

GAME OF THE WEEK:

WKU 69 Marshall 70 Western has now blown two big leads in 21 and 15, as they fall to the Herd in a intense game at the Cam. A key loss was when Center Charles Bassey left the game in the 1st half with a knee contusion. They fall to 8-8 and 1-2 in conference. Mean while the Herd move to 10-6 and 3-0 in conference play. Also the Cam was PACKED!!

Rice 64 UTEP 65 Rice loses their 2nd in a row at the buzzer. Rice falls to 7-11 and 2-3 in conference. UTEP finally gets their first conference win in dramatic fashion, as Jordan Lathon sinks the winning fade-away. UTEP moves to 6-9 and 1-3 in conference.

At this rate, anybody can win this conference and it’s gonna be a photo finish in the championship.
