Antonio Brown is clearly upset with Art Rooney II’s announcement on Thursday that the Steelers are open to the possibility of trading the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver. Brown unfollowed the Steelers’ Twitter and posted some confusing responses to Rooney’s announcement. He is also ignoring calls from Rooney as well as the head coach Mike Tomlin.
Although, Aditi Kinkhabwala is reporting that someone “extremely close” to Brown says that he does not want to leave the Steelers.
“He 100% does not want to go right now,” Kinkhabwala said. “He is not looking to be traded. He does not want to leave.”
Then why did he unfollow the Steelers’ Twitter and not return calls?
There are multiple teams interested in trading for Brown such as the 49ers and Broncos.
For the Broncos, simply trading for Antonio Brown would instantly take them from a bottom-tier offense and turn them into a top-five offense in the league. Pair that with the top-five defense they will likely have – thanks to Vic Fangio calling the plays and rallying the troops – and the Broncos would not only be a near-lock to make the playoffs in 2019, they would be possible favorites to win the Super Bowl.
For the 49ers, the idea of adding Brown to the mix with record-breaking tight end George Kittle and talented youngster Dante Pettis has to be enticing for them. It would create a tremendous trio at the skill positions, and set the 49ers up with a likely top-five offense over the short term.
