Hurricanes got to see old friend Jeff Skinner Friday in their game vs the Buffalo Sabres. Skinner played his first 8 season’s with the Canes, and is the franchises only rookie of the year winner. His return to Raleigh was spoiled thanks to 2 goals from Center Sebastian Aho, as the Hurricanes won 4-3. It was a very important game to win for the Canes as they are fighting for that wild card position that the Sabres hold right now.
Today’s game will be against the Nashville Predators and old coach Peter Laviolette who won the Hurricanes their last Stanley Cup Championship back in 2006. The Predators have won 5 out of their last 7 games, and the Canes look to stay sharp as they have won 7 out of their last 10 games, but their goal keepers will have to step up after letting up 6 goals in the last 2 games. Carolina is trying to make a midseason push to get into that wildcard position, only 5 points behind Buffalo for that last spot.
